LG Dishwasher Troubleshooting for Code LE

    Reset

    • If the dishwasher was newly installed, there may be a miscommunication between the controls, and the dishwasher should be reset. This is a simple process --- unplug the dishwasher and wait five minutes. Restore power to the unit. If the error code has disappeared, make a new wash selection and proceed normally.

    Filter

    • While the "LE" code on an LG dishwasher means "motor error," there are a variety of possible causes. One such cause is the chopping blade located in the filter, which may have been installed incorrectly. Disconnect power to the unit and remove the bottom rack so you have access to the bottom of the dishwasher. Disassemble the filter until you reach the chopping blade inside the filter housing. Lift out the blade and then reinstall it with the "This Side Up" label facing up. If the component was installed facing down, an error will occur.

    Impeller

    • Another possible reason for the error code is a problem with the impeller. You can inspect the impeller by disconnecting power to the dishwasher, pulling out the bottom rack and then removing the bottom spray arm by pulling it up and out. Remove the screws that hold the filter assembly in place, and then remove the filter assembly and mesh screen. Turn the impeller and look for obstructions. Remove any debris that might be blocking the impeller, and then replace the filter assembly. If there is no debris and the impeller turns easily, the problem is most likely the motor and not the impeller.

    Wiring

    • Another possible reason for the error is a damaged or cut wire inside the dishwasher. While it is possible for some users to remove the front panel on the dishwasher, locate the damaged wire and splice or repair it, you will probably want to contact a service professional for this task.

    Motor

    • Last but not least, the motor error may indicate just that --- a problem with the motor. If this is the case, the motor may need to be repaired or even replaced, and this is a job for a professional. Contact LG or another service technician for assistance.
