How to Connect Coaxial Cable to an Antenna
- 1). Attach the female end of the coaxial cable into the coaxial port on the antenna. Most coaxial cables are male to male, so you most likely need to purchase this cable from an electronics store. The male end of the cable has the metal pin in it while the female end is a port that the male end can be inserted into.
- 2). Untangle the cable and run it to either the television or the converter box. If the cable is bunched or tied up you can lose picture and sound quality.
- 3). Connect the male end of the coaxial cable into the "In" port on either the television or the converter box. If using a converter box you now need to connect a male-to-male cable into the "Out" port of the box and the other end into the "In" port on the television.
- 4). Power on the television. If using a power antenna you need to power it on also. Set your television to the tuner and use the TV remote to change the station, unless you are using a converter box, in which case you need to use the converter box remote.
