How to Change a Belt on an Electrolux 4870
- 1). Shut the Electrolux Eureka 4870 off. Remove the cord from the power outlet. Push the floor switch on the cleaning head to "Bare Floor." It will lock into place.
- 2). Apply your foot to the handle lever and pull the handle down. Flip the cleaner over. You should be looking at the underside of the cleaning head and the handle.
- 3). Remove the Phillips screw near the wheel, and then remove the two other screws from the front edge of the cleaning head. These screws secure the brush roll cover. Pull it off. You'll now see the brush roll and its belt.
- 4). Lift the brush roll. Guide the belt away from the brush roll. The other side of the brush roll is attached to the motor. Slide it off as well. Do not touch the motor or its shaft. It gets very hot after the vacuum has been used.
- 5). Slip the replacement belt over the motor. Slip the other end of the belt over the left side of the brush roll. Insert the brush roll into its holder, starting with the left side. Hold the belt in place as you do this.
- 6). Replace the cover and the screws. Bring the vacuum back to its upright position and test the new belt. Ensure that the vacuum has adequate suction. If it doesn't, the belt may be incorrectly installed.
