How to Make Fragrance Oil With Dipropylene Glycol
- 1). Combine the essential oils, the DPG and the perfumer's alcohol or vodka in the glass bottle. The combination will fill the bottle nearly all the way, but you should have some space left at the top.
- 2). Shake the bottle gently. You should upend the bottle at least 10 times to thoroughly mix the DPG and the essential oils and alcohol. DPG is a "carrier oil" and helps the scents carry in the air. Of course, be sure that the bottle is sealed tightly before you begin shaking.
- 3). Store the bottle in a cool, dark place for a month. Each day, you should shake the product gently at least once. The longer you store the bottle, the stronger your fragrance oil will be. At the end of this period of time, you can use the oil as a massage treatment, in a potpourri burner or with reeds as a reed-diffuser air freshener.
