Getting the Right Fats for Good Health

Fat is an essential nutrient that your body needs in order to function best. It is used for various hormonal needs, for the brain, and for dealing with the cold.

Almost all food has fat in it. Even vegetables and fruits have some minimal amounts. Grains and beans will have more. Animal products and certain plant foods have an abundance.

The body only requires a minimal amount for good health. There are some serious problems that can come about when you get too much though.

The fats that tend to be the most detrimental are the ones found in animal products called saturated fats. These have been shown in many studies to contribute to all kinds of cancers, heart disease, obesity, and diabetes.

There are some fats that are naturally occurring in nature that can be beneficial to health and not as big of a problem as the other types. These are the cold-pressed extra-virgin olive, coconut, and palm oils.

Under a microscope, they are able to keep their stable chains. Any other type of oil such as corn oil or soybean oil will appear unstable under a microscope.

The unstable oils have to be extracted from the plants with chemicals and high-processing techniques. Many people think that they are better than the animal fats. But, they are equally detrimental to health.

Margarines, trans-fats, and any type of hydrogenated oils can really clog up the body system. These ingredients are commonly added to fried foods, pastries, and many other food items.

These are the most difficult for the body to deal with and are very unnatural. In fact, margarine has been found to be a major problem for heart patients and butter has been shown to be better.

You may feel fine now as you are consuming many of these detrimental fats and oils, but later you can have some severe problems as your liver gets overloaded with toxins trying to filter the inner pollution. Eventually, you may find yourself with a heart attack or cancer sooner than you thought possible.

It takes a lot of time for your body to get rid of the bad effects of the trans-fats. Fats come from animals and oils come from plants. Try to only use the most natural sources.

Fats and oils have a lot more calories than protein and carbohydrates and tend to be stored in the body. The primary fuel that the body is looking for is in the complex carbohydrates that have wholesome starches.

These are the beans, brown rice, corn, potatoes, winter squash, and whole grains. The simple carbohydrates such as the pastries also have a lot of the wrong fats. If you try to choose fat-free prepared snacks, you can expect that a lot of extra sugar has been added to help with the taste.

You will always have a problem with health and weight if you are not eating the way that is most natural and wholesome. You will look and feel the way you were meant to look and feel if you eat the foods nature intended for you.

Take some time to learn about what is healthiest for you and learn new ways of eating and cooking.

You need a healthy body if you want to live a good life and be more effective in accomplishing your goals.
