    Register With Apple Certifications

    • 2). Fill out the form to get an Apple Tech ID. At the top of the form, you will make an Apple ID and password. The Apple ID is separate from the Apple Tech ID. They are easy to confuse, but they are not the same thing. The Apple Tech ID is used to refer to your Apple certifications. The Apple ID is used for logging in to various Apple websites.

Complete the form and and click the "Register Now" button at the bottom. You will be taken to the Terms of Use page. [see Reference 2]

    • 3). Agree to the Terms of Use by clicking "Agree." You will be taken to the results page.

    • 4). Make a note of the Apple Tech ID as reported on the results page.

    Take the Exam

    • 1). Register for the exams. The ACMT exams are administered by Prometric. You can register on the Prometric website or by phone. The current phone number can be found on the Prometric website. You will need your Apple Tech ID to register.

As of October 2010, first-time ACMT exam-takers must pass the Apple Macintosh Service Exam and the Mac OS X v10.6 Troubleshooting Exam. Each requires a separate fee.

    • 2). Prepare for the exams. Apple authorized service providers are provided with training by Apple. If you are not employed by such a provider, you can get the same training by purchasing the AppleCare Technician Training. Information about the training can be found on the AppleCare Professional Support Web page.

    • 3). Take the exams. If you pass, you will be certified by Apple to repair the Macbook.
