103 3
If you are looking for healthy meal plans then it's obvious that you are either wanting to lose weight and/or to maintain and build a better body.
Therefore it is important to understand the basis of great eating plans.
Here is what to look for...
Frequency - All meal plans should allow you to eat between 5-6 meals per day, consisting of 3 appropriately portioned mains meals and 2 - 3 snack meals in between mains.
Why? To keep your metabolism high.
When you eat healthy foods more frequently that actually increases your metabolism during eating and afterward whilst your body is digesting.
Quality - Most importantly, look for meal plans that have quality and balanced calories.
This means a balance of the 3 macro nutrients, Carbohydrates, Protein and healthy unsaturated fats.
Forget fad diets that cut any of these groups out as your body needs to be refueled of vitamins and minerals from diverse sources of healthy foods.
For instance your brain is primarily fueled by carbs - so do you really want to go on a low/no carb diet, just to lose a few temporary kilos in water, and then put it back on soon after? Each 3 have their own qualities and is beyond this article, but if the diet states you won't be eating either carbs, protein or fats - forget it! Maintainable - Considering how hard it is for most to go on diets, why restrict yourself? Choose a diet that focuses on what you can eat (not what you can't) including a variety of fat burning foods such as fruit, vegetables, low fat dairy, lean meats, fish and healthy fats such as oils, nuts and seed.
A diet that focuses on what you eat is easier to stick to long term.
The best and cheapest way to find healthy meal plans is to create one yourself or find a guide that will provide you with the necessary information and advice advocating the above 3 factors.
Planning meals doesn't have to be confusing, so why complicate things with unorthodox diets that don't work? If you start planning your healthy meals with all natural unprocessed foods you'll be on the right track.
