How to Store Fishing Weights
- 1). Dry weights with a small towel prior to storing them for the off-season. This holds especially true for weights made of exposed metal, as they can become prone to rust, decreasing their efficacy and necessitating replacement for the upcoming season. A little bit of effort can save you time, money and frustration come the following fishing season.
- 2). Sort your weights both by size and type prior to storing them at the end of the season. This can help to minimize your prep time when you next want to go fishing, as your weights will already be prepared for use without the need for endless categorizing after the fact.
- 3). Store your weights either in a special container or your regular tackle box, remembering to place the box containing your weights in the same location every year. This can minimize your chances of forgetting where your weights are kept and having to repurchase the entire lot. Write yourself a small note on the calender if necessary, reminding you of where the weights are located so that you will have easy access to them at your next fishing trip.
