What Series Is GeForce 6200?
- The three models available for the 6200 includes two desktop versions and one mobile graphics processor. The primary difference between the two desktop models of the 6200 is that they use different types of interface and have varying memory configurations. The 6200 using a PCI-Express interface is available with either 128 or 256 MB of video memory, while the AGP version supports 128, 256 and 512 MB of memory. The mobile version has similar features but utilizes main system memory to supplement its dedicated video memory.
- The GeForce 6 series supports several basic features designed to increase graphics processing power and compatibility. The 6 series video cards all support Microsoft's DirectX 9.0 and Shader Model 3.0 Application Programming Interfaces. The GeForce 6 series also supports a feature called TurboCache, which is only available on the mobile version of the 6200. This feature allows the Go 6200 to dynamically allocate system memory to the video card.
- The 6200 models of the GeForce 6 series use a 128-bit memory interface to transfer data between the Graphics Processing Unit and video memory. Some models use a 64-bit interface that provides significantly slower performance. Higher-end versions use GDDR3 memory; however, the 6200 models are restricted to using slower DDR or DDR2 standard memory. Graphics processing for desktop models is handled by an NV43 GPU that operates at 300 MHz. The mobile Go 6200 models use the NV44 GPU, which includes support for the PowerMizer feature. This feature allows the Go to increase mobile battery life by reducing the energy consumption of components running under full capacity.
- The Pure Video feature included with the 6 series of video cards utilizes a dedicated video processor located on the GPU that enhances video playback for multiple videos playing in separate windows. This feature also supports 1080i HDTV output and dual-link DVI displays with resolutions up to 2048 by 1536 pixels. The desktop 6200s also support nVidia's Digital Vibrance Control feature, which provides users with advanced control correction and image-sharpening tools.
