How to Fish for Sunfish With Flies
- 1). Tie a dry-fly onto the end of the line. Do not put on a sinker or float.
- 2). Release approximately 3 feet of line from the reel and cast the dry-fly. The fly will float on the surface of the water.
- 3). Gently tap the line with your index finger, which gives the fly the appearance of a struggling insect in the water.
- 4). When the fish strikes the fly, give a sharp jerk upwards on the pole setting the hook into the mouth of the fish, and reel it in.
- 5). If no strike is made within 5 minutes, reel in and recast.
- 1). Tie a wet-fly onto the end of the line.
- 2). Cast the wet fly to the desired fishing area, and begin retrieval as soon as the fly hits the water.
- 3). Retrieve the fly slowly while holding the rod tip slightly upwards. When a strike occurs, set the hook and reel in the fish.
- 4). If no strike occurs, recast the wet fly and recast.
