How to Reformat a Dual Partition Disk on a MacBook

    • 1). Open the "Applications > Utilities" folder within Finder. Double-click "Disk Utility" to launch the application.

    • 2). Connect the drive you wish to format to the computer (via USB or FireWire), if it is not already connected.

    • 3). Select the drive within Disk Utility's sidebar. The multiple partitions on the drive will be indented directly below the drive itself within Disk Utility's sidebar, be sure to select the drive and not one of the partitions.

    • 4). Click the "Partition" tab. Select the "Volume Scheme" drop-down menu and select "1 Partition." Enter a name for the reformatted disk and select the desired format from the drop-down menu.

    • 5). Click "Apply" and confirm the action to begin reformatting the drive. The partitions will be erased and removed, resulting in one continuous disk.
