How to Find out What Kind of RAM Card You Have
- 1). Look inside the user's manual that came with your computer. On the "Technical Specifications" page that is listed at the beginning of every manual will be a listing of what type and how much RAM your computer contains. This information may also be listed on the original box that your computer came in as well as on a sticker printed on the side of the computer's case.
- 2). Look up a technical review of your computer on the Internet. Sites such as CNET and Consumer Reports allow experts to review almost every make and model of computer that is released. These technical reviews will definitely mention exactly what type of RAM card is in a computer. This method may be the best way of finding out the information you need, especially if you can't find your user's manual, threw out the box the computer came in or removed all of the stickers from its case.
- 3). Open up your computer and look inside. This method is only recommended if you feel completely comfortable opening up your computer's case. Your RAM cards will be connected directly to your computer's motherboard, which is the long flat board in the center of the case. Printed on the RAM cards themselves will be the type, size and model of RAM.
