How to Put Threads on a Fiberglass Rod

    • 1). Use the white marker to mark the guide spacing on the rod blank. Refer to a rod spacing chart to ensure accuracy.

    • 2). Run the thread through the middle of a thick phone book or dictionary. Set the guide against the rod blank and lay the tag end of the thread parallel to the foot of the guide.

    • 3). Begin wrapping the thread over itself to secure it to the guide and the blank. Wrap up the foot of the guide for 4 turns then cut the tag end flush with the wraps.

    • 4). Continue wrapping the thread until you are 4-5 turns from the top of the guide. Create a loop in the thread and finish wrapping over the loop.

    • 5). Cut the thread leaving several inches of excess. Pull the excess thread through the loop and pull the loop tight. Cut the tag end to complete wrapping one side of the guide. Repeat the process on each foot of each guide.
