How to Re-Spool a Zebco 404 Reel
- 1). Remove the front cap of the Zebco 404 reel by twisting it counterclockwise.
- 2). Thread your new line down through the eyelets of your fishing rod and then insert it through the hole of your cap. Make sure you have entered the cap from the front.
- 3). Tie a small slipknot in the tag end of your line. Slide the loop over the spool and pull tight. Snip the excess line off the knot.
- 4). Replace the cap by twisting it clockwise onto the body of the reel.
- 5). Reel the line from the spool onto the reel. The Zebco 404 is designed to hold 75 yards of 15-pound test line. It is useful to have a second person hold the spool with a pencil in its middle hole. Have your assistant apply pressure equally on the spool as it spins.
