How to Make a Backup Copy of a Purchased DVD
- 1). Unless you have Windows 7, download the ISO Recorder freeware (see Resources).
- 2). Insert the DVD you want to copy into your drive.
- 3). Double-click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop. If you have Windows 7 or Vista, the icon's label is "Computer." Locate your DVD drive, right-click the drive and select "Explore." This opens a list of files on the DVD. Copy these files to a directory on your hard drive.
- 4). Remove your DVD and insert a blank DVD into your burner. Right-click the Windows "Start" button and select "Explore." This opens the Windows Explorer application, which shows all your directories and drives.
- 5). Right-click on the directory that contains your DVD files. Select "Copy image to DVD." You can also copy ISO images to CD. This opens a new wizard window.
- 6). Select the drive where your blank DVD is located in the "Recorder" section. In the section labeled "Source," select the directory where you copied your DVD files.
- 7). Click the "Next" button. The ISO creation starts. It may take several minutes for the wizard to complete, depending on the size of the data copied to the hard drive and to the burner.
