How to Set Up an Abu Revo
- 1). Place the Revo spinning reel on the reel seat of a spinning rod and tighten the locking rings securely to hold the reel in place.
- 2). Choose a monofilament fishing line for the Revo reel based on the type of fishing to be done. Use, for example, 8- to 12-lb. test for bass or choose a line weight based on personal preference. Feed the free end of the line through the rod tip and down through each line guide along the length of the rod.
- 3). Open the wire bail of the spinning reel. Pull the monofilament fishing line around the spool of the Revo reel so that 7 inches of line extends beyond the reel.
- 4). Attach the line to the reel with an Arbor knot. Form an overhand knot with the free end of the line around the main line. Form a second overhand knot using only the free end of the line. Moisten the knot and pull tight against the spool of the reel.
- 5). Hold the line just in front of the reel and apply tension. Turn the handle of the Revo reel to wind line onto the spool. Fill the spool with line to within 1/8 inch of the spool edge. Cut the line free from the filler spool 4 feet from the end of the rod tip.
- 6). Attach a lure or terminal tackle such as a hook to the end of the line with a Palomar knot. Moisten the knot before pulling tight.
