How to Install Linux Mint Via Flash Drive
- 1). Download the latest version of Linux Mint (see Resources). The file will be an ISO, which is a disk image ready for burning to a CD, DVD or flash drive.
- 2). Insert the flash drive into the USB port of your computer. Format the drive and save the ISO to it.
- 3). Restart the computer.
- 4). Boot the computer to the flash drive. Various computers do this differently. Generally the start-up process will ask you to press any key if you want to boot from a disk drive.
- 5). Select the default start-up option. It should be labeled "Start Linux Mint." Linux Mint will start from the flash drive, but it will not be installed on the computer's hard drive yet.
- 6). Double-click the "Install" icon on the desktop.
- 7). Select the language you intend to use for your installation on the installer screen.
- 8). Select your location on the map to ensure proper system time settings. Also select your keyboard layout.
- 9). Tell the installer where to install Linux Mint on your hard drive. You can dedicate the entire hard drive to your installation, which will erase anything that is on your hard drive. Alternately, you can choose to keep another operating system (such as Windows) on your hard drive. Advanced users can choose to set up a hard disk partition manually.

Enter your name, a user name and a password into the installer screen. This will be your default administrator account. Also name your computer and select whether you want to log in automatically on start-up or require a password. - 11
Read through the installation settings. Click the "Install" button when you are ready. The installation itself should be automatic and take about 10 minutes. - 12
Restart the computer and remove the USB drive from the computer.
