• The most widely known of the three products is the Norton Utilities package by Symantec, which includes the Norton System Doctor application. Neil Rubenking of PCMag.com says, "The whole idea of Norton Utilities is that you'll get a better, faster experience with your computer after taking advantage of its tools." Running in the background, Norton System Doctor monitors a computer's operations, constantly scanning for problems that might interfere with peak performance and either automatically fixing them or alerting the user as to what it finds. .Nsd in Nero's Multimedia Suite

• The second program using the .nsd file extension is the Multimedia Suite by Nero, a leader in digital media software. Multimedia Suite is a software package managing and editing multimedia, including music, videos and photos. It includes advanced video editing features, a media organizer and player, an army of special multimedia tools, video burning software and backup. Jonathan Parkyn of Computeractive says, "Effectively, it means that there's something here for everyone, from inexperienced users who just want something to burn the odd disc without any fuss, to experts who want total control over their media files and the ability to rip, copy, burn, convert, edit and share just about anything."

• NRG Systems' Site Database is the third application incorporating the .nsd file. Not a product sold separately for commercial use, the specialized database is incorporated into the products offered by NRG Systems, a company specializing in wind energy measurement tools.
