Historically rich city Delhi with Mughal courts ornate with courtiers like Tansen music and compositions were unmatched by anybody. But it was underestimated that Delhi had lost its gloss for music in the midst of bureaucrats, refugees and property dealers. Delhi's pursuit for music is never dying, be it marriage or festivals people of Delhi enjoy with music and dance. Delhi is India's new cultural capital, galloping against Mumbai. At the beginning of this year more than 90,000 people thronged the India Art Fair, the second most attended art event in the world after Arco, Madrid. Delhiites frequent the more than 200 galleries and numerous concert venues across the national capital region. Whether it is rock, Indian classical, jazz, metal or World Music, people have an eclectic menu of genres to choose from. Westernism has touched every soul, and thus we can see voluminous youngsters inclined towards western music. People who do not have knowledge about music think western music is all about screaming out to the extreme. But western music too need as much dedication and training as Indian music like Carnatic music and Hindustani music. Delhi has prominent number of music private and government institutes. Delhi Music Academy, The Delhi School of Music, Lorraine Music Academy and University of Delhi offer music courses and certification in both Indian and Western music.
