  The North Shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota offers opportunities for catching trout and salmon. Charters are available for fishing experiences for the novice to veteran fishermen. Lake trout, coho salmon, Chinook salmon and steelhead varieties are commonly caught on the North Shore. Most charter services will provide fishing equipment, but passengers should bring their own coolers for storing fish, comfortable shoes and warm clothing.
  
  

Tofte Charters

• Tofte Charters has two charter boats available that hold between four to six passengers. The charter departs from Taconite Harbor. Tofte Charters offers several charter fishing packages. As of 2010, A 2-hour charter costs $195 for one to four people and $30 for each additional rider. A half-day charter lasts between 4 and 5 hours and costs $350 for one to four people and an additional $50 for other passengers. A full-day, 8-hour charter is available for $595 for one to four passengers and $50 for each additional passenger. A $100 deposit is due 10 days before the charter is scheduled to depart in order to hold a reservation. Tofte Charters provides all fishing gear. A Minnesota fishing license and trout stamp is required for individuals age 16 and older. A 24-hour fishing license can also be purchased on board the charter for $9.50.

North Coast Charters & Tours

• North Coast Charters & Tours offers a fishing experience for up to six passengers on a 24-foot Hewes boat called the "Northstar" that is piloted by Captain Tom Muntean. As of 2010, a half-day trip lasts 4 1/2 hours and is available from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. for $300. A full-day, 9-hour trip costs $500 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. North Coast Charters & Tours provides all fishing equipment. A Minnesota fishing license and trout stamp is required.

• Sport Trolling captain James Latvala takes passengers aboard his 37-foot charter boat the "Rainbows End." The charter service is available from May through September and follows the salmon run up the North Shore. As of 2010, A 5-hour, half-day charter costs $425 dollars for up to four passengers. A 9-hour, full-day charter costs $625 for one to four passengers. There is a $50 fee for each additional passenger up to six. A deposit of $100 is due when making a reservation. All fishing equipment is provided. A Minnesota fishing license and trout stamp is needed.
