Get In The Healthy Habit of Eating Leftovers

Why is it that many people are adamant against eating leftovers? It just doesn't make much sense when you think about it.
If the food was good enough to eat at home for dinner, it makes perfect sense if there are leftovers that are stored properly you would have a fantastic meal for the following day.
First off, this will save you money every time you eat leftovers since you won't have to go out and buy an unhealthy fast food meal which definitely will not assist in any weight loss efforts.
More importantly, by packing leftovers to take with you to work, you will have total control over the portion size of the meal.
Controlling the amount of food you eat at meals is of utmost importance when you're focused on losing weight.
A Healthy Habit of Eating Leftovers Will Save You Money Along With Weight Off Your Body You may find that by getting into the habit of packing leftover food as often as possible, you will not only eat healthier meals, but this will inspire you to also eat healthy snacks and beverages throughout the day.
If you currently don't have any small plastic travel containers, you can easily find a set of 4-6 for about $4 at your local supermarket.
Foil and plastic wrap can also be great allies in transporting food to and from work.
When it comes to developing healthy habits, you'll find that one habit inspires you to create more.
If you pack a healthy leftover lunch, you are more likely to pack a healthy snack and beverage to go along with that fantastic lunch.
The only scenario where it would be difficult to eat leftovers is when you don't have access to a microwave or other means to warm up the meal if need be.
If this is the case, you may have to get a little creative with the food you are left with from the previous day.
Cold soup or steak just doesn't taste as pleasant as it does when it's steaming hot.
If you have the unfortunate luck of being stranded at work unable to reheat food, see what you can create with the leftovers and other items you have in your kitchen.
For instance, with the steak example, you can cut up the meat and toss it in a salad or put in a whole wheat wrap with lettuce, low-fat mozzarella string cheese, tomatoes and presto, a fresh healthy meal especially if you have carrot/celery sticks to compliment this wrap.
The point of this exercise is to get you to think of your leftovers as potential healthy travel meals to enjoy the following days.
In addition to that, also think of ways the food can be used to create something entirely new.
By doing so, you give yourself an additional healthy option to enjoy while at the same time save some of your hard-earned money.
The best of both worlds!
