How to Increase RAM Memory
- 1). Turn off the computer, unplug the cables.
- 2). Open the case with a screwdriver, and lay the case down so that you can view the hardware inside.
- 3). Locate the RAM slots and remove old RAM modules if necessary. The RAM slots are usually aligned next to a large CPU fan and heatsink, on the part of the motherboard closer to the front of the case. You will notice one or more RAM modules already installed in the slots. If you are replacing older modules with larger ones, press down firmly on the two securing clips on either side of the RAM module to pop it loose.
- 4). Install the new RAM module(s). To install a RAM module, line up the module with the ram slot in the same orientation as the old RAM modules. Then push down with even force until the RAM chip sinks in and the securing clips clamp on either side of the RAM module.
- 5). Close your case and turn on your computer. RAM does not require extra software installation to run.
