How to Fish for Connecticut Trout With Fire Tiger Phoebe Spoons

    • 1). Attach the spoon directly to the end of your line's snap swivel. The weight of the lure will give it the momentum needed for it to be cast far and the ballast needed for it to sink.

    • 2). Cast upstream as far as you can in moving water, or in the vicinity of the deepest part of still water if you are in a lake. Allow the line to go slack until you feel the lure hit the bottom of the water.

    • 3). Reel the spoon in slowly so that it scrapes lightly along the bottom. If it bounces too much, it will spook the trout. However, if it doesn't touch the bottom at all, the trout may not notice it.

    • 4). Repeat Steps 1 through 3 as needed, casting farther downstream to provide current resistance if you are getting no bites upstream. Move to a different location if you go for a long time without a bite.
