How to Remove the Cover on a Whirlpool Calypso Dryer
- 1). Unplug the Whirlpool Calypso power cord from the electrical outlet. Pull the dryer away from the wall about 12 inches so that you can rotate the top over while you work on the dryer. Remove the lint screen from the top of the machine by pulling it out and setting it aside out of the way.
- 2). Remove the screws at the lint screen bracket using a Phillips screwdriver. Slide the putty knife into the groove between the front of the dryer and the top. Release the retaining clips with the putty knife and raise the top of the dryer up, rotating it back toward the wall.
- 3). Unplug the wiring harness from the door switch using a flat-tip screwdriver to assist in separating the plug. Remove the front panel retaining screws on the inside of the dryer near the top, using a nut driver. Lift the front panel up and out from the frame of the dryer and set it aside out of the way.
- 4). Push the belt pulley to the side at the bottom of the dryer to release the tension on the belt and pull the belt from the pulley. Form a loop at the top of the dryer belt and lift the drum out of the dryer. You now have access to make any repairs necessary to the dryer.
