    • 2). Stress to your friend that you're there to help. Ask how she (or he) is feeling and be a good listener. Being a good friend means putting yourself in their shoes. Offer advice, but don't preach.

    • 3). Keep conversation away from food or body types. Offer compliments and praise the non-physical qualities of those around you. A positive outlook can be contagious.

    • 4). Set a good example by leading a healthy lifestyle, both physically and mentally. Eat well, exercise and enjoy life. Participate in activities both you and your friend can enjoy.

    • 5). Know your boundaries. Bulimia is a serious disorder and requires medical attention. Ultimately, the best thing you can do as a friend is direct them to a physician.
