How to Tie a Mud Crab
- 1). Hold the crab down with your foot by stepping gently on its back. Lower the middle of the piece of string under the front of the crab and wrap the sides of the string around the backs of the main large claws.
- 2). Bring the ends of the string under and in front of the main claws. Push the claws into the crab's body.Tighten the ends of the strings so the main claws are secure against the front of the crab.
- 3). Pull the ends of the string back across the crab's back. Tuck the ends of the string under the crab's flippers, which are the small, claw-less fins on the back of the body.
- 4). Turn the crab over so it's resting on its main claws. Bring the ends of the string together in the middle of the crab's back, near the flippers. Tie a tight knot in the string as if you were tying your shoes, then tie a second knot instead of making the bow in the shoe tie. Turn the crab back over.
