How to Fix Jump Drives
- 1). Connect the the jump drive to an available USB port on the computer. In a moment the computer is going to state it has detected a new removable storage device.
- 2). Open "My Computer" ("Computer" in later versions of Windows) and right-click the removable disk icon. This is going to bring up a pull-down menu.
- 3). Select "Properties" from the pull down menu. This loads a small window. From the window click on the "Tools" tab, then select "Check Now" under "Error Checking."
- 4). Check off the box "Automatically fix file system errors" and click "Start." The computer is now going to scan and fix any issues it finds with the jump drive.
- 5). Click "OK" when informed of the scan being complete. Then drive should work properly again.
